Action Potential wouldn't be the awesome place it is without our incredible educators. But who are these science superstars, these creativity champs?
We sat down with them to find out what makes them tick (people tick, right?)
Meet Tanya Brekelmans, our resident science star. Tanya loves creating new experiments, learning and writing about science and (as you can see above) she does an EXCELLENT bird impression.
1. Who is your favourite scientist?
Neil deGrasse Tyson! Not only is he brilliant in his theories on Relativity and Astronomy, but he is so darn funny (the memesssssssss). His documentaries regarding the Cosmos are pretty awesome too.
2. Who is your favourite artist?
My favourite changes all the time but right now I'm a big fan of Lindsey Sterling who is a YouTuber / violinist. Not only is her music breathtaking but her videos are visually as well. All around performance artist, she loves dressing up and the special effects that she puts in her videos are a true work of art.
3. What do you love most about art/science?
The search for "why"! Being able to understand why things work the way they do and being able to apply it to other ideas
4. If you had a superpower what would it be?
Mind-reading fo sho! I know I have a lot of random thoughts going on in my head and I know other people do as well. Unfortunately (fortunately) that doesn't always present itself to the public (haha)
5. What is your favourite thing about Action Potential?
The people! The team is really supportive at APL and the kids that we teach in our classes / birthday parties have all been really amazing, bright kids who truly have a passion for learning. This fuels my passion and drives me to be the best instructor that I can be!
