Position: Dynamic Science & Arts Educator
 

Action Potential Lab is looking for a Dynamic Science & Arts Educator to join our team.

We are an educational organization that prides itself on its unique and immersive programming with an emphasis on S.T.E.A.M. learning. We are looking for a hard-working, flexible, idea machine, who is excited to create innovative science & art programming and have a great time doing it.


You are:

An enthusiastic creative who enjoys teaching others, brainstorming new programs and seeing a lesson plan come to life from start to finish. You love to collaborate, are open to ideas, and are always looking for novel approaches to interdisciplinary education.

You find the space between science, technology, engineering, art, and math fascinating and are interested in getting kids, youth, and adults excited about where they intersect.

As an educator, you promote your students to step away from their desk, limit their screen time, and get involved with tinkering, playing and creating. You are happy to work hand in hand with parents and customers who are looking for that unique educational experience for their kids or themselves.

You are a person who enjoys a lot of creative freedom in a workplace and you value working alongside staff and volunteers who support one another. You are happy to work in a position that takes you away from your desk and keeps you moving and active throughout the day.

You want your position and input to directly impact the development and growth of Toronto’s first science and art lab.

Most importantly, you desire to put your energy towards something great!
 

Responsibilities:

  • teaching toddlers, kids, youth and adults

  • planning lessons + preparation

  • working alongside staff and volunteers

  • instructing classes in the lab and on location

  • brainstorming

  • communicating with clients

  • testing out experiments and art activities
     

Qualifications:

  • Experience with toddlers, children, youth and/or adults in educational settings

  • Experience creating lesson plans

  • Strong public speaking skills

  • Proficient in either Fine Art, Science or Education

  • Ability to hold the attention of a group of students

  • Strong classroom management skills


Commitments:

  • Full-time position available

  • Part-time positions available

  • Weekend shifts


Bonus:
