Research League: Tenure Track

As researchers on track towards great careers as innovative thinkers, it’s crucial to engage in a hands-on practice! In this class, we’ll explore the field of Biological Art or “bioart,” an artistic discipline that uses or takes inspiration from biology as material for artwork. Each week’s class begins with a themed discussion highlighting collaborations between science and art. Topics range in microscopy and scientific imaging, ecology, and synthetic biology. Projects take the form of photography installations, Banksy inspired graffiti works and Land Art projects in the style of Robert Smithson. Action Potential Lab promotes hybrid education as we repurpose scientific tools for our artistic outcomes.
